Gymnastics stated sometime last year to not post birth dates for any
gymnasts. The rules as I understand it applies to children under 13
years of age. However, it is best not to post any birth dates. At
that time we stated that it may be possible to post age grouping,
but it is now known that some times one age is a division and thus
the posting would state their age. Therefore, there should be no
posting of any age designation or date of birth. This has been sent
to the executive office for requesting additional guidance from our
legal council. The masking of age groupings may be possible.
Obviously the meet directors in that state will have to be notified
of the code.
It is also my understanding that this rule applies to
public access websites. It is suggested that states set up password
protected areas of there site for meet directors and chairs. The
posting of the meet results after the meet has concluded should just
be posted to state session 1 etc. There is no need to post ages at
that time.
I will review our website and update. We will create
a statement that will be sent out. This is being sent to the
executive office for further clarification. I will keep you all
posted. For now the best route is no posting of any age, birth date
or age grouping/divisions.
Sincerely,
Kathy Feldmann
